Reiki is a form of alternative therapy that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. The word "Reiki" is composed of two Japanese words: "Rei," which means universal or spiritual, and "Ki," which means spirit, energy, or life force. Reiki is often translated as "universal life energy" or "spiritually guided life force energy."

What is Reiki?

The practice of Reiki involves the channeling of this life force energy through the practitioner's hands to the recipient, promoting relaxation, stress reduction, and healing. It is based on the belief that when the life force energy is low, people are more likely to feel stressed or become ill, and when it is high, they are more capable of being happy and healthy.

During a Reiki session, the recipient typically lies down fully clothed on a treatment table, while the practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above different parts of the body, focusing on specific areas known as chakras or energy centers. The practitioner acts as a conduit for the energy to flow to the recipient, promoting a sense of well-being and balance.

Reiki is often used as a complementary therapy alongside traditional medical treatment to help alleviate symptoms, reduce pain, and promote relaxation and emotional healing. It is considered safe and non-invasive, with many people reporting feelings of balance, deep relaxation, peace, and improved overall well-being after receiving a session.

Reiki is not a religion nor a new age practice. It has been used by practitioners of many faiths, and is a spiritual practice that compliments any belief system as a hands on practice.

"My Reiki Ryoho is an original method based on intuitive power in the universe. By this power, body gets healthy and enhances happiness of life and peaceful mind" - Usai Reiki Hikkei - The Usai Reiki Handbook.

I had my first session of Reiki and really didn't know what to expect. I went in with an open mind and I'm so glad I went.
I came out feeling calm and less tense, it was a wonder feeling and I feel so much better than before I went. Huge thanks to Amie,  you truly are wonderful.
